Senators Millar & Butler to Serve on Dyslexia Study Committee

Two members of Gwinnett’s legislative delegation are going to help study dyslexia for the Georgia Senate.

Sens. Fran Millar, R-Atlanta, and Gloria Butler, D-Stone Mountain, will make up two-thirds of the study committee looking into the issue. The committee was created by a resolution authored by Millar, who will serve as the board’s chairman. Sen. Matt Brass, R-Newnan, will also serve on the committee, which was appointed by Lt. Gov. Casey Cagle on Friday.

“Dyslexia affects 1 in 5 Georgians — more students than any other learning disability, which is why our state is taking the necessary steps to ensure early intervention and awareness,” Millar said in a statement. “Lt. Governor Cagle understands that addressing dyslexia is a vitally important quality of life issue.
